The Face Behind
Makers Workroom
Hi, I'm Sam; dreamer, creator and freelance pattern maker behind Makers Workroom.
My love of sewing and design began at a young age with Saturday nights spent teaching myself to sew while listening to six o’clock rock. I learnt very quickly that the quick unpick isn’t quite as quick as it leads you to believe and when it comes to sewing, there is no such thing as a shortcut. My early failures and successes in sewing taught me that creating a wearable garment from scratch is a process that requires attention to detail, patience and a lot of dedication.
In 2008 I graduated from the Whitehouse Institute of Design with a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and since then have gone on to work in the industry before launching my own label in 2013. Launching GEHRICH and trying to make my mark in the world of fashion has always been a goal of mine but I am also passionate about sharing my knowledge and love of sewing and technical garment construction. I have first hand experience in finding my footing with a new label and navigating the ins and outs of both local and off-shore production.
Makers Workroom exists to provide exceptional pattern making services to our clients and partners. We work with labels both locally and nationally and are passionate about focusing on sustainability and ethical manufacturing.
